Znojmo City Walls

Znojmo's medieval city walls are some of the most impressive in South Moravia. Originally built in the 13th and 14th centuries, they protected the town during times of war and served as a powerful symbol of Znojmo's importance.

Today, several parts of the walls are still preserved, especially on the western and southern sides of the old town. You can take a beautiful walk along the fortifications, enjoying views of the Dyje River, vineyards, and the nearby Podyjí National Park. Several towers and gates (like the Wolf Tower or Upper Gate) give you a glimpse into the town’s defensive past.

It’s a peaceful and romantic stroll — especially at sunset!
